About us

With the establishment of Faculty of Agriculture in 1960, the Department of Agronomy was started. Before 2000-2001, the subject Agronomy was being taught only at U.G. level. From the academic year 2000-2001, the department has started a two year programme as M.Sc. (Ag.) in Agronomy under self-finance scheme. But the permanent approval was sanctioned in the year 2003. Students are admitted in P.G. programme through entrance exam. The number of seats sanctioned to the department is 15. Agronomy Department has been offering high quality education focusing specially in research field with special care to the socially and economically weaker section of the society.

Since inception, the Department of Agronomy has been shaping and brightening the future of students through a collective and interactive teaching-learning environment and time-honored pedagogy. We are purely devoted to create a diverse, progressive and inclusive work environment. We believe, this is the central effort to maximize creativity and innovation in research oriented education in the department. Department of Agronomy has well equipped laboratories for the students. Students are also provided facility to give their presentation in seminars through PPT. We keep guiding the students in the preparation of manuscript like assignment, research data compilation, its analysis, research paper writing and reference collection etc. We are in the process of creating smart class room facilities. With this technical mindset in this challenging scenario and incorporating online education in pedagogy, we will improve our aptitude and ensure a bright academic future. Cropping and Farming System and New Technique Agriculture Practices are given to the students of Bachelors and Masters through practical crop production and research trials. In this sequence of learning, children are also motivated with the latest education of agriculture through KVK and Kisan Mela, so that children develop new technology in the fields of farmers and agriculture and they can overcome it in difficult situations.
